This Chocolate dream cake in a glass is what it says it is… A chocolate dream for chocoholics! Layers of moist, chocolate cake, creamy chocolate pudding, chocolate shell and cocoa powder.
Chocolate dream cake in a glass came to be because I saw some popular dream cake in a facebook group I think and it looked so good! I loved the textures and the components, so I knew I had to make it at home. That one was in a tin tho, I think they sell them somewhere but I’m not sure! Tell me about it if you know :).
I mean look at that creaaaaamy chocolate pudding!

So I decided to make them in glasses (I wasn’t prepared to search and buy a tin only for that). I knew exactly how I wanted the components to be in texture, but the taste was debatable since chocolate was all there is. But I decided to go with the dark chocolate I bought recently. It’s Carma’s Black Zabuye 83% chocolate and it’s the only dark chocolate that I enjoy so much, usually I prefer milk chocolate. You can use this one or your favorite chocolate because the taste will greatly depend on the chocolate you choose. I decided to pair it with orange liqueur, my beloved Grand Marnier that I used very often in baking. And the combination is amazing of course. Another great idea would be to use Baileys (Irish cream liqueur) instead or the Grand Marnier, can’t wait to try that one out.

30 g cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
2oo g buttermilk
30 g coffee (or water)
60 ml oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate pudding
350 ml milk
150 g sugar
1 tsp glucose (optional)
40 g cocoa powder
180 g chocolate (Black Zabuye)
70 g butter, at room temperature
30 g cornstarch
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
40-60 ml orange liqueur
+ 100 g chocolate
+ oil
+ cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
Chocolate cake
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a 30 x 40 cm baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix together the dry ingredients; sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Mix together the wet ingredients; egg, buttermilk, coffee, oil and vanilla. Now combine them together and pour the batter on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 13-15 minutes until the cake springs back when lightly pressed or a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean.
Chocolate pudding
Bring the milk, sugar, glucose and cocoa powder to a boil. Mix the cornstarch with some water and add it to the boiling mixture. Cook for 3-4 minutes, remove from heat and mix in the chocolate until it’s melted. Combine with the vanilla, salt and orange liqueur. Leave the pudding to cool to room temperature, then mix in the butter.
Assemble
With a glass or a cookie cutter cut out circles of the chocolate cake (in the diameter of your used glasses). Place a chocolate cake circle in the glass, top with some chocolate pudding, repeat 2-3 times. Put the dessert in the fridge to set for a bit. Melt 100 g of chocolate with some oil and pour a small amount over the top of the desserts. Leave to set and dust with cocoa powder.
Enjoy your dream cake!

What a treat! It reminds me of a trifle, but without the fruit and cream, so that the chocolate flavours are intensified. I like the sound of the Grand Marnier addition, but really, this is a great base to keep on varying that boozy hit of flavour.

Exactly! It’s a medicine for chocoholics 😛

How much oil should I add in 100gr chocolate to keep it sets? and if I want to skip the alcohol, should I change it with something else or can I just leave it out? Thank youuu!!!
Love your recipessss~~
Dea
Thank you so muchh!! To skip alcohol just add the same amount of milk or some fruit juice if you want :). You should be good with using a teaspoon of oil in the chocolate.
